Last mountain clinics before the passes close

The mobile clinics of the St. Luka Community Health Mission, staffed this autumn with Sisters of the Cross of Irad, are making their last rounds of the year to the high villages before the passes close.

Over three weeks the teams will visit villages in the Talas Alatau and the Chatkal basin with vaccinations for children, check-ups for expectant mothers and a winter supply of medicines for the old and the chronically ill. Each team carries blessed kümöch from the cathedral for the families it visits.

The Order of St. Janyl the Hermit will keep its rural dispensaries open through the winter where the roads allow. Gifts for the winter medicine supply may be left at the cathedral office or given through the St. Janyl Mission in Chicago.
