In brief
Potato import halt
The ISEZ’s halt on potato imports, meant to protect growers after a record harvest of 210,000 tonnes, has not raised the price they are paid. Wholesalers at the Bazar-i Kalan were buying at 1.40 som a kilo this week and selling at 2. The Ministry of Agriculture said storage, not imports, was the problem, and that a cold-store tender would be announced “this winter”.
